ABOUT THE JOHNNY

John Croghan

Raised on the wild high plains of Colorado, legend has it that the newborn Johnny reached up and played the Tennessee Flat Top Box with his Pappy's beard hairs. Thus began the lifetime love of sweet, sweet country music that is the JC. More >

more country goodness

UPCOMING SHOWS ADDED!
see the calendar page. And on a sad note, I just experienced a personal loss. That of about 2 hours of my life as i watched the made-for TV movie The Langoliers. My cable package, which I am giving up as I write, offers a library of free movies, including the above. It seriously starred Balki Bartokomous as the villain. Rough.
OK see you in June. In the meantime I am heading to Gnashville to pitch songs! I feel i have a couple good fits for George Strait, I just have to convince his people that

permanently awesome

OK Kids so the stuntman has lots to report. First, I had the most kickin St. Pats party at the Lazy J Ranch. That and a whole bunch of projects have kept me from writing. So we floated a keg of Guiness, which meant that the stuntman felt like he had fallen headfirst off a ten-story building come Sunday. The Lord's Day. Palm Sunday. I blame Matt and Jake. I prayed for the sweet release of death and made 6 briskets for my family who were all coming over for dinner that day. Rough, man.
Things are looking SWEET for Friday, in addition to it being opening day we at JC&HB are going to unveil a new original and surprise you with some rarities I havent played out in a WHILE.
We will have T-shirts. Dont allow yourself to conform to the masses any longer. Come get a shirt and express your love of that which rocks: John Croghan and his Band

holy living crap it's been a month

And I thought that 2008 was going to go along a little slower.
So I was driving to work, and saw out the window a dozen kids moping their way to school. Skid Row's "youth Gone Wild" came to mind. i should add that to the repertoire.
New shows: Opening Day, April 4, at the 12 Volt tavern in Arvada. It's okay, you couldnt get rockies tix anyway. I am also trying to get some other shows wrangled up, so stay tuned!
ALSO, soon Timmy and I will be pitching songs in Nashville!!! I cant wait. Once George Strait hears this greatness, he will sign me up to a lifetime songwriting contract

All the buzz about town

Family: Sorry I havent gotten to you! I have been a busy beaver at the Lazy J ranch. Soon that will all be done and Ill be doing full-time blogging and stunts.
Well the show at the Larimer on the 26th was a success: the band sounded great, especially Gravy Davy Shapiro on the tele, Rad Brad Weaver on the bass and harmonica, and young phenom Chris Loyer on the skinz. I got to hang with my Buckskin buddies who I always enjoy listening to, and got to have some free High Lifes and shots of Jim Beam

So, I have been trying to land some shows for the band and I got pointed to this miraculous jamboree of performers and event planners. Basically, I went in full cowboy regalia (which regularly kicks me up 2 points on the 1-10 hotness scale) and set up a table at this convention where event planners would come by and take a listen to the goods. I had some really sweet demo/onesheets to hand out that looked killer, and got a good response. I also had lots of hershey's kisses.

Equally important: I am awaiting the shipment of my first batch of T-shirts featuring one kickass JC logo after another. I will add a merch page or something so you can order them. Save your pennies, gang I just might offer a t-shirt+CD package. That is, when i get the CD pressed. :(

NEXT SHOW: Feb 24 at the Cricket!

More, much more later

The Time...it is NOW

Family;
OK so tomorrow is the big night. I am so excited I dont know if I will sleep tonight. Pass out, maybe; sleep, no. Not just because of the show, but also because my brother loaned me his '73 F250 Ranger. The truck's name is Uncle Jesse, a nod to the nearly identical truck driven by Denver Pyle's character in the Dukes of Hazzard (Daisy: you were my first true love).
So I am thinking of buying it. Cons: it's an automatic (for wimps) and a 2WD (for Kentuckyians). Pros: it rides like a friggin Cadillac, and looks really, really cool. I am over the part about it being a Ford, since I'm from a long line of GM men. Jesse may not be a Chevy, but he's family

Remember-tomorrow show at the lounge! It will be so awesome, I cant even guarantee safety!!

upcoming

Hey check out the calandar! That's right family 2 more dates added!! And they are coming up soon!! Email me for some discount tickets, and I will respond by melting your face clean off a la Raiders of the Lost Ark.

You may remember my very first posting on the JC.com. It was about the sweetest car ever, the second-gen pontiac Firebird Trans Am SE. well, you cant keep a good 'bird down, and Year One (a parts dealer) is selling restored thunderchickens painted in theme of the famed Bandit. Note the proper, modern suspension and the 454 cubic inch V-8. There was mention of 650 bhp coming out of the rear wheels. Mercy. I wept. Mainly at the fact this car is 60 to 100 thousand dollars I can't justify away. Maybe if they made a fuel-efficient Green Bird
