If you're ever in Scottsdale, AZ

you should check out the Rusty Spur saloon. It is smaller than the dairy barn we had back on the farm of my youth, but big on crazy. Me and bro Mike went in there after he bought his first legitimate pair of cowboy boots. (sidenote: he bought them from Saba's in Scottsdale, and those guys were pretty awesome too. they had a pair of Lucchese Mad Dogs for like $230. Not too shabby!) We strolled in through the flappy, old-style doors and got a welcome at the bar wound up hanging out there the whole night. It was pretty awesome. They had a guy singing and playing guitar, but the the bar owner and bartender had another microphone and sang along, or jumped in for a verse or two. It was pretty funny the bar owner, who looked like an old cattleman complete with the clean straw hat and everything got up and starts singing like an angel, and then tells me he had to take choir in high school to keep his grades up. Nice.
Anyhow it was a good time and I plan to visit there next time I head down AZ way. Which hopefully will be soon, because I haven't even told you about Quartzsite yet

more later
